| Taylor
graduated from Taylor University in May with a degree in English
(writing emphasis) and a minor in Spanish, but that has little
to do with what he is taking away from his college years. It is
true that his love for the Spanish language and european culture
has grown as well as his love for both reading and writing (I once
received a 26 page letter from him!!), but other loves have been
cultivated over the years.
Music is one thing he will tell you is a passion of his. Taylor's
opportunities to be involved in music have been more limited than
he would like during college, but he is eager to find ways to play
out this passion (no pun intended) in the years to come (and maybe
then one day I'll get a song written for me, or at least get one
sung for me).
Ask
Taylor what the one thing he's taking away from T.U. and he will
tell you it is his love for being in community with guys, encouraging
and challenging each other to be more Christ-like. He has served
as an RA for the past two years on a wing affectionatly called "2
Easy". Although he will never be in such a close-knit community
of guys again, he hopes to continue being a leader and encourager
through small group leadership in his old youth group.
Another
growing passion developed in Taylor over the years is ministry.
His own experience includes working with Chicago Eagles for a summer
of soccer camps. (Oh, did I mention that Taylor is a super well-rounded
athlete? By that, I mean, he's good at everything.) His favorite
books of recent are "The Heavenly Man" by Brother Yun and "God's
Smuggler" by Brother Andrew--both inspiring stories of faith
and ministry.
Lastly and best of all, Taylor takes away from college a flourishing
romance with the girl he never had a shot with in high school. And
now she loves him desperatly.
